You Don’t Need a Big Budget to Market Like a Pro
One of the biggest myths we hear from small business owners is “I can’t do marketing properly because I don’t have the budget.” We’re here to bust that myth. There are some amazing free tools out there that can level up your marketing without spending anything. Here are our favourites…
Canva —
If you’re not using Canva yet, where have you been? Canva is a free graphic design tool that lets you create great social media graphics, flyers, presentations and more with no design degree needed. It’s drag and drop, super intuitive and has thousands of templates ready to go. The free version is brilliant and if you want even more, the paid version is worth every penny. We use it every day!
Instagram Edits —
Instagram’s own editing app is a hidden gem. It’s completely free and perfect for creating polished Reels and short-form videos without needing a fancy editing suite. Trim, add music, captions, transitions, it’s all in there. If video content has felt overwhelming, this is the tool that’ll change your mind.
CapCut —
This is another free video editing app that we absolutely love. It’s brilliant for creating content that looks professional but takes minimal time. Auto captions, trending effects, background removal, it does the heavy work so you don’t have to. It is great for TikTok, Reels and YouTube Shorts.
SEMrush —
Their free version gives you a brilliant snapshot of how your website is performing online. You can check your SEO health, see what keywords you’re ranking for and look at what your competitors are up to. It’s one of those tools that sounds techy but is actually really straightforward once you get started, and the insights are gold.
Mailchimp —
Mailchimp’s free plan is one of the best ways to start building your email list without spending a penny. You can design beautiful emails, set up automated welcome sequences and track exactly how your audience is engaging with your content. Email marketing consistently outperforms social media for conversions, and Mailchimp makes it genuinely beginner-friendly.
Eventbrite —
Whether you’re hosting a workshop, pop-up, webinar or networking event, Eventbrite makes it incredibly easy to set up a professional event page, manage registrations and sell tickets all for free on basic events. It also puts your event in front of people already browsing for things to do, giving you built-in visibility. It’s a brilliant tool for getting your brand in front of new audiences and building community around your business.
Google Analytics —
This is the tool that tells you what’s actually working. Google Analytics is completely free and gives you a detailed picture of who’s visiting your website, where they’re coming from, which pages they’re spending time on and where you might be losing people. It sounds technical, but once you get familiar with the dashboard the insights are great.
Meta Business Suite —
If you’re running a Facebook or Instagram page for your business, Meta Business Suite is your best friend. It’s free, and it brings everything into one place from scheduling posts, replying to messages and comments and viewing your insights across both platforms at once. The analytics alone are worth it. You can see exactly which content is resonating with your audience and use that to shape what you create next.
The best bit about all of these tools is that they’re free, they’re accessible and they’re being used by businesses just like yours every day. Start with one, get comfortable and build from there. And if you ever need a hand, you know where we are!
